The Climate Centre seeks to hire (a) Climate Consultant(s) on a short-term consultancy basis to support its programs. Broadly speaking this position will provide technical support to the Climate Centre’s programs through background research, writing and guidance material development.

We are immediately looking for:
Climate Consultant(s) (15-40 hours/week)

This is a home-based consultancy, candidates may be from any country.

To provide technical support to the ICRC as part of a joint effort to reduce the impact of climate risks in conflict areas and also provide technical support to Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies in the Middle East in the areas of climate science, policy and practice. The Climate Centre seeks to hire

a Climate Adviser Middle East (40 hrs/week)

The level of seniority will be based on experience, expertise and capacity to take on additional responsibilities if necessary. This is a regional position for a longer period of time.

Junior Researchers / Internships
 
We are immediately looking for Junior Researchers in the following countries: Ethiopia, Kenya and Malawi who can support us with:
 
  • Review secondary information available on health systems and climate risks including underlying vulnerabilities for the health systems;
  • Conduct online interviews with relevant stakeholders to complement existing reports and literature: interviews with National Society, Government Health Department, National Hydro-Met Services, National association of WASH NGOs etc.;
  • Draft synthesis report highlighting gaps and opportunities on climate and health programming including recommendations for future programming;
  • Conduct selected city-level assessments to capture structural determinants of health due to high rate of urbanization and concentration of informal settlements;
The Junior Researcher must be enrolled in a university programme in their respective country for the entire duration of the placement (September – November 2020, for three months).
