New IFRC Plan of Action and guidance for National Societies

23/08/2013 - by the Climate Centre

The IFRC recently distributed a new plan for climate change work and a suite of valuable guidance documents for National Societies.

Its 2013–6 Plan of Action reiterates the organization’s commitment “to work together with its members to raise the ambition and contribution of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement in addressing climate change in coordination with government plans.”

In that light, a guide to National Adaptation Plans aims to support National Societies’ engagement on national-level policy discussions on climate change adaptation through the development of NAPs worldwide.
There is also a guide to mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in operational planning, and another on how to go about accessing the dedicated funding sources for climate change.

All these documents are also available from the IFRC secretariat offices in Geneva.
